Your Budget:

Our typical cremation plaques range from  $600 - $1800, with headstone memorial sets starting from $1500 upwards but averaging between $3000 - $6000. We have plaques and memorials to suit all budgets.

Finance/Terms:

We do require a deposit at the time of your order with the balance due prior to the installation or collection of your memorial. Payment plans of weekly/fortnightly installments are no problem as long as your memorial is paid in full by the time you require it to be installed or collected.

Your Design:

What style, size and shape would you like your memorial to be? You may like to choose from our 100s of designs in store or have a custom design made. Custom made headstones and memorials can be made in almost any size and in any granite colour available.

Your headstone base can include flower vases or perhaps ceramic flowers or can be without. You may want to engrave the base with a surname, sentiment or design. Base shapes can be square, sloping fronts, rounded ends, even steps (to heaven). For all public Cemeteries there are size restrictions to consider but for private cemeteries and Urupas there are generally no size restrictions.

Colour & Materials:

Granite is the most popular material used these days, due to its strength and durability. Black is the most common granite colour used however there is a wide range of granite headstone colours to choose from.

Granite being a volcanic rock is naturally formed in the earth and not man made, therefore there may be some colour variation from one piece to other.

Many granite’s that are in the market today are not suitable for headstones. Headstones have to be able withstand all weather conditions such as frost, rain and wind. Our granite colour chart offers you the best granites suitable for memorials.

Headstone Inscription:

If required, we can help you choose a fitting inscription for your memorial. This can be gilded with 23ct gold leaf or painted white or silver. Graphics, artwork, logos and emblems can all be added.

Ceramic Photos & Tiles:

Colour, black and white or sepia photos can be supplied in a variety of shapes and sizes. The most common sizes used for most memorials are 8 x 10cm and 9 x 12cm. Photos take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete and carry a lifetime guarantee against UV fading. For any extra-large photos or collages, ceramic photo tiles are the best option. These can be shaped to suit and multiple photos can be overlaid to create collages. Ceramic Photo Tiles can be made up to 800 x 800mm - one of the world's largest ceramic photos and made right here in NZ.

Timeframe:

For a stock item, a headstone will take 4 - 8 weeks to complete. In other cases where we have to order your memorial design, this can be up to 24 weeks. Please let us know the date you may need your headstone ready by - Urupa Unveiling, Anniversary, Birthday or a special Family Day of your choosing. Custom made memorials will normally take between 4 - 5 months to have ready as many involve skilled carving and are made overseas. Please allow PLENTY of time (5 or more months) if an unveiling is planned.

International Orders:

We are happy to supply, ship or air-freight your finished memorial to other Islands and countries if required. These are crated into approved materials for international customs border control. Costs depend on weight, size and destination.

Installation:

Most Public Cemeteries require a qualified Monumental Mason to install cremation plaques and headstones. B.O.P Memorials supply a full installation service within the Bay Of Plenty area and wider, outside of this area we can arrange with our nationwide cooperative of HEADSTONE SHOPS to have a memorial installed.
